Qualification & work experience

Mr. Seung Jong Oh is a graduate of Seoul National University from the college of law. He was awarded his bachelor of law degree in 1981. Three years later, Mr. Oh passed the bar exam and successfully finished a three-year articling in 1987 at the Judicial Research and Training Institute of Korea. In the same year, he practiced law as a judge at the Seoul Criminal District Court. Spending the next two years in the same jurisdiction as a judge, he was transferred to the Seoul Eastern District Court in 1989. Then, in 1991, he was assigned to the Gangneung Branch Court as judge. In 1993, he was transferred to the Seoul Northern District court and had worked there for the next two years once again as judge. In 1995, he received his master of law degree from the Columbia University School of Law. In 1996, he was assigned as judge to the Seoul District Court and had worked at the very Court until 1997. Concluding his days as a judge, he entered the sphere of post-secondary education as a professor. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as a professor at the Judicial Research & Training Institute of Korea in the Chief faculty of Intellectual Property Law. In 1999, he entered the sphere of post-secondary education as a professor in the field of intellectual property law from Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul and had worked until 2006 at the very institution. As well, since year 1999, he has been working as a partner lawyer of Barun Law firm.

Domestic Activity

Since year 2002, he has been a member of the Industrial Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Committee of the Korean Intellectual Property Office. Also, since 2004, he has been a member of the Copyright Assessment Committee. In 2006, Mr. Oh was named as professor in intellectual property at Hongik University.
